It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Straughn Tigers can now relate to. They took a 33-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers on Friday. It was the first time this season that Straughn let down their fans at home.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Layne Grantham, who threw for 117 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Decorian Cowan had a dynamite game for Thomasville, rushing for 288 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Cowan has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. Dallas Bryant was another key contributor, gaining 117 total yards and a touchdown.
Straughn's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Thomasville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Straughn does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Thomasville will look to defend their home field on Friday against Saint James at 7:00 p.m. Saint James has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 254 points over their last six contests.
