Upper Scioto Valley extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-11. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Baltimore Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rams have suffered since April 24, 2025.
Ashlyn Downing and Chloe Cunningham did some serious damage despite the final result: Downing went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run, while Cunningham went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Audrey Lawrence also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
As for North Baltimore, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games.
On North Baltimore's side, Allena Lennard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Ava Delancy and Peyton Coykendall did most of the damage at the plate: Delancy went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Coykendall went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emeri Meggitt, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Coming up, Upper Scioto Valley will take on Ottoville at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The Big Green have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for North Baltimore, they will challenge Allen East at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
