The Highland Huskies will be playing at home against the Liberty Common Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Highland's favor as the squad sits on 14 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Liberty Common has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Highland pushed their score all the way to 66 last Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 83-66 fall against Strasburg. Highland found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up 11 fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the defeat, Highland got a solid performance out of Sawyer Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Morgan hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Jacob Wares was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Liberty Common suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 78-44 loss at the hands of Prospect Ridge Academy. While losing is never fun, Liberty Common can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Prospect Ridge Academy is ranked 115th).
Despite the loss, Liberty Common got a solid performance out of Max Frevert, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Pierce Richardson, who scored 12 points.
Liberty Common struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Highland's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Liberty Common, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Highland hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 71.1 points per game. It's a different story for Liberty Common, though, as they've been averaging only 44.9 points per game. The only thing between Highland and another offensive beatdown is Liberty Common. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Highland took their victory against Liberty Common when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 75-54. Will Highland repeat their success, or does Liberty Common have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
