Basketball Recap: Palo Verde Valley Comes Up Short

Palo Verde Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Vincent Memorial Scots. The Yellow Jackets lost against the Scots in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 69-47 score last time.

Despite the loss, Palo Verde Valley still got an impressive performance from Daymien Jauregi, who posted 18 points and seven boards. Jauregi is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Zaraivion Crowe was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

Palo Verde Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Vincent Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palo Verde Valley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Somerton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will be up against the Toros' rather soft defense (which has allowed 74.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Vincent Memorial, they will square off against El Capitan at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
