After flying high against the San Luis Sidewinders last Monday, the Gila Ridge Hawks came back down to earth. Gila Ridge took a hard 61-46 fall against the Wolverines on Friday. While losing is never fun, Gila Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Wolverines are ranked 122nd).
Tolleson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rico Blassingame led the charge by scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Jahlil Loyd was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Gila Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Tolleson, the victory got them back to even at 13-13.
Gila Ridge will be playing at home against the Kings at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Kofa is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.1 points per game this season. Tolleson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
