The Pottsgrove Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Tulpehocken, posting a 56-17 win on the road. Given Pottsgrove's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Tulpehocken is ranked 584th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Tulpehocken lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aidan Schwalm. Despite the final result, he scored nine points. Schwalm scored a full 52.9% of Tulpehocken's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Tulpehocken struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The victory for Pottsgrove keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Tulpehocken, their defeat was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4.
Pottsgrove will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Owen J. Roberts at 6:45 p.m. on December 28th. As for Tulpehocken, they will head out on the road to face off against Brandywine Heights Area at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
