Champion lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Christian Williams, who scored 11 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Marky Nolan, who scored 14 points.
Newton Falls was led to victory by Cameron Huff and Jabriel Rufai. Huff scored 21 points along with six rebounds, while Rufai scored 21 points along with seven blocks and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Huff has scored all season. Landon Mcgregor was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Champion's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Newton Falls, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Champion will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Garfield at 7:00 p.m. Garfield is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Newton Falls, they will head out on the road to face off against LaBrae at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. LaBrae presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Newton Falls in Ohio (LaBrae is ranked 128th, while Newton Falls is ranked 332nd).
