After three games on the road, Cedaredge is heading back home. They will take on the Coal Ridge Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Cedaredge's 18-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. The game between Cedaredge and Vail Christian wasn't particularly close, with Cedaredge falling 63-44.
Despite their defeat, Cedaredge saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rylan Brooks, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Josh Scott, who scored 10 points.
Meanwhile, Coal Ridge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 49-33 fall against Glenwood Springs. The matchup was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but Coal Ridge was blown out by Glenwood Springs in the second.
Coal Ridge's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ben Simons, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds, and Alex Cornejo who scored 10 points along with 3 steals. Cornejo scored a full 30.3% of Coal Ridge's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The losses dropped Cedaredge to 0-3 and Vail Christian to 2-2.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Cedaredge haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 0 turnovers per game. It's a different story for Coal Ridge, though, as they've been averaging 19.5 per game. Given Cedaredge's sizeable advantage in that area, Coal Ridge will need to find a way to close that gap.
