Corpus Christi Moody has struggled against Victoria East recently, as their game on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Dylan Prado threw for 46 yards while completing 80% of his passes. Jimmy Rodriguez was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Adrian Luna Jr. rushed for 92 yards.
Nijahrell Prater continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Victoria East, rushing for 100 yards and four touchdowns. Prater's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. Victoria East also got a significant boost from Jaden Williams, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 97 yards.
Corpus Christi Moody's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Victoria East, Carroll, and Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial. As for Victoria East, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Corpus Christi Moody will be playing at home against King at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. King is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Victoria East, they will head out on the road to face off against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Victoria East likes a good challenge.
