Basketball Recap: Fernley Extends Winning Streak to Four

Fernley had won three straight games and Taylor Tollestrup did her part to make it four on Friday. The Vaqueros came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 40-39 W against the McQueen Lancers thanks in part to Tollestrup, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 20 rebounds. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points.

Irene Brown was another key player, putting up four points and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, McQueen still got an impressive performance from Audrey Baumgardner, who shot 58% from beyond the arc to rack up 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Richards, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Fernley's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for McQueen, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Fernley has already played their next contest, a 54-44 win against Trinity on the 6th. As for McQueen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-42 defeat against Churchill County on the 6th.
