Basketball Recap: Reno Triumphs

If Douglas wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Reno, they should've done a better job of containing Eric Platz. The Reno Huskies strolled past the Douglas Tigers with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 50-34 thanks in part to Platz, who shot 4-for-6 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Mack Edwards, who posted six points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in December of 2024.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Coyne, who had four points and four steals. Evan Tolbert was another key player, putting up six points.

Reno's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Douglas, they moved to 10-9 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Reno will head out on the road to face off against Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Reno is facing Carson at the right time seeing as Carson is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Douglas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Manogue at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Douglas has won four straight at home, while Bishop Manogue won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
