This season hasn't been kind to the Hough Huskies, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They were outmatched by Cox Mill at home and fell 93-61. The defeat was just more heartbreak for Hough who fell 61-58 when the teams previously met back in December of 2021.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matt Nesta, who scored five points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nesta has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cole Galombeck, who scored 14 points.
Even though they lost, Hough were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cox Mill found their leader in underclassman Teeshon Smith, who scored 33 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. Tyler Brown was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Hough's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Cox Mill, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hough will take on North Gaston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Gaston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday. As for Cox Mill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Concord at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Concord will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Cox Mill is ranked 38th).
