Baseball Recap: Start Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Start won the last time they faced Emmanuel Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. The Spartans blew past the Warriors 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Braydin Roesner and Daniel Brownfield made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Roesner didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Brownfield pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Roesner has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Roesner went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Brownfield went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Roesner a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kayden Shuster was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braden Bowman, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Start always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Emmanuel Christian only posted an OBP of .222.

Start pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Emmanuel Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-9.

Coming up, Start will challenge Lima Senior at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Emmanuel Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Bowsher at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
