Ridgefield has gone 8-1 against McMahon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tigers will host the Senators at 4:00 p.m.
Ridgefield easily dispatched Stamford on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Tigers fell just short of Notre Dame Prep by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered since May 2, 2024.
Ridgefield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sonia Gaughran, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, McMahon had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Westhill on Wednesday as they made off with a 10-4 victory.
Caroline Sattler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Alexa Smith was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Isabella Spagnuolo, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
McMahon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
McMahon's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Ridgefield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ridgefield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. However, it's not like McMahon struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Ridgefield's way against McMahon in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Ridgefield made off with a 19-1 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Senators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
