Old Orchard Beach came into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. Aiden Hodgkins was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hodgkins was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Trot Moody made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Old Orchard Beach: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Kooper Gervais also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sacopee Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Monmouth Academy on Thursday, sneaking past 4-3.
Braiden Croteau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Silas Nielsen, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Bradly Metcalf was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
Sacopee Valley pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Old Orchard Beach, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-5.
Sacopee Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Old Orchard Beach hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. It's a different story for Sacopee Valley, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain Old Orchard Beach's hitters?
