The Gadsden County Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 44-34 to Taylor County. Gadsden County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Taylor County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Gadsden County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jahyria Dillard, who scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Khyla Robinson, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Taylor County was led to victory by Jershila Glover and LeeAsia Johnson. Glover scored 13 points, while Johnson scored 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Taylor County's points.
Gadsden County's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Taylor County, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10.
Gadsden County will challenge Madison County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Madison County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gadsden County in Florida (Madison County is ranked 128th, while Gadsden County is ranked 478th). As for Taylor County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Godby at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
