Boylan Catholic is 0-10 against Harlem since May of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Titans will welcome the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. Boylan Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Boylan Catholic will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Freeport, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Titans came out on top against the Pretzels by a score of 13-8 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Titans considering their two-run performance the match before.
Ari Ousley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Janae Burke was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Maddy Kiley, who went 2-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Boylan Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Harlem ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Belvidere. Winning may never get old, but the Huskies sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Harlem also let their pitcher toss all eight innings and she was also dialed-in: Rylie Adams gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks. Adams has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Megan Christensen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Harlem pushed their record up to 18-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Boylan Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
Boylan Catholic might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Harlem in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Titans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
