Ella Hutchinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Morgan Downs was excellent, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, five runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colbie Longaker, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Seacrest Country Day hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Moore Haven had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Monday. They blew past the Tigers 16-1.
Like Seacrest Country Day, Moore Haven also got a great game from a two-way player: Camryn Prowant. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Prowant was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Truley Osceola, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Brooklyn Sergent was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
The win got Seacrest Country Day back to even at 4-4. As for Moore Haven, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Seacrest Country Day has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Moore Haven struggles in that department as they've been averaging 14.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Seacrest Country Day might still be hurting after the 16-1 loss they got from Moore Haven in their previous matchup back in February. Will the Stingrays have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
