The Frankfort Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Danville Admirals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Frankfort hasn't scored more than a single run for five games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Frankfort nor Lexington Christian made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Panthers took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Danville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Berea a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The Admirals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by 11 runs or more this season.
Jaycee Morse was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Avery Long was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Wataon, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Danville's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Frankfort, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Frankfort has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .517. However, it's not like Danville struggles in that department as they've averaged .583. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Frankfort's way against Danville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Frankfort made off with a 17-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
