The Big Valley Cardinals suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 59-37 loss at the hands of Happy Camp. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Big Valley in their matchups with Happy Camp: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Big Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marcus Mitchell. Despite the final result, he scored ten points.
Happy Camp was led to victory by Luis Osorio and Jean Wright. Osorio scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Wright scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Osorio is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jason Day, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Big Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Happy Camp, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Big Valley will head out on the road to square off against Surprise Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Surprise Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday. As for Happy Camp, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Dunsmuir at 6:30 p.m. Dunsmuir has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
