The New Life Camp Storm will head out on the road to face off against the South Wake Sabres at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, New Life Camp's game was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They secured a 55-49 W over Chatham HomeSchool. The win was just what New Life Camp needed coming off of a 79-46 defeat in their prior matchup.
New Life Camp's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caroline Brown led the charge by scoring 21 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Edwards, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, South Wake was able to grind out a solid win over South Guilford HomeSchool on Monday, taking the game 57-50. The win made it back-to-back wins for South Wake.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Wake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sydnee Woolard, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Rebekah Hartzell was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
New Life Camp pushed their record up to 12-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for South Wake, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Friday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: New Life Camp have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 37.7% of their threes per game. However, it's not like South Wake struggles in that department as they've made 44.9% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
New Life Camp suffered a grim 75-51 defeat to South Wake in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hartzell, who scored 25 points. Now that New Life Camp knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
