Even though the Oakland-Craig Knights scored an imposing 61 points on Saturday, the South Sioux City Cardinals still came out on top. South Sioux City walked away with a 68-61 win over Oakland-Craig. The win made it back-to-back wins for South Sioux City.
Brooklyn Heineman had an outrageously good game as she scored 30 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of South Sioux City's points. Bryleigh Robinette was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 4 steals.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Briar Ray, who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Ray scored a full 29.5% of Oakland-Craig's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Adi Rennerfeldt, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds.
South Sioux City's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Oakland-Craig, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Sioux City will face off against Cedar Catholic at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakland-Craig, they will head out on the road to face off against Clarkson/Leigh at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
