After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Smith-Cotton, the Eldon Mustangs were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They strolled past Capital City with points to spare, taking the game 63-44. That's another feather in the cap for Eldon, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Sydney Halderman, who scored 22 points along with seven assists. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Eldon's points. Another player making a difference was Zoe Martonfi, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and four steals.
Eldon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Capital City, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eldon will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Buffalo at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Buffalo is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Capital City will finish 2023 at home by hosting Benton on Wednesday.
