After flying high against the Hemphill Hornets on Tuesday, the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs came back down to earth. Corrigan-Camden took a serious blow against Kountze on Friday, falling 112-71. While losing is never fun, Corrigan-Camden can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while Kountze is ranked 189th).
Corrigan-Camden's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tony Cooper, who scored 32 points. The match was Cooper's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Ayden Sowders was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Corrigan-Camden's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-3. As for Kountze, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corrigan-Camden will square off against Colmesneil at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colmesneil is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Kountze, they will head out on the road to face off against Barbe at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
