Florence is 0-3 against Llano since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Florence Buffaloes will head out on the road to take on the Llano Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Florence has struggled recently with 15 defeats in a row, while Llano will arrive with 11 straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Florence suffered a tough 45-25 loss at the hands of Brady. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Florence in their matchups with Brady: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, even though Blanco scored an imposing 60 points on Tuesday, Llano still came out on top. Llano escaped with a win against Blanco by the margin of a single free throw, 61-60. Given Llano's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while Blanco is ranked 959th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Weston Baker was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points. He hasn't dropped below 18 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Fitz Kennedy, who scored 11 points.
Florence dropped their record down to 1-21 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Llano, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season.
Florence took a serious blow against Llano in their previous matchup back in January, falling 65-19. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Florence was down 37-6.
