Bishop Timon-St. Jude put the finishing touches on their 15th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on St. Mary's with a sharp 86-63 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-24.
Aaron Hicks and Jaiden Harrison were among the main playmakers for Bishop Timon-St. Jude as the former scored 22 points along with five assists and the latter shot 5-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 30 points and 12 rebounds. Hicks is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Mike Gibson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cardinal O'Hara's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Canisius, falling 80-39. While losing is never fun, Cardinal O'Hara can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 458th, while Canisius is ranked 11th).
Bishop Timon-St. Jude's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.3 points. As for Cardinal O'Hara, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Bishop Timon-St. Jude strolled past Cardinal O'Hara in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 78-60. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Cardinal O'Hara's Isaih Serrano, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Now that he won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for Bishop Timon-St. Jude to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
