St. Mary's Dominican will head out on the road to face off against the Dutchtown Griffins at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully St. Mary's Dominican focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, everything went St. Mary's Dominican's way against Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy as St. Mary's Dominican made off with a 46-24 victory.
Zoie Mitchell was the offensive standout of the matchup as she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. The game was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Molly Baker, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Dutchtown entered their tilt with Assumption with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Dutchtown came out on top against Assumption by a score of 55-48 on Monday. Given Dutchtown's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Assumption is ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fontainebleau's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while St. Mary's Dominican's defeat dropped theirs to 2-7.
St. Mary's Dominican didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Dutchtown when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 43-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Mary's Dominican since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
