The Minneola Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Hodgeman County Longhorns at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Minneola has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Ashland scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, Minneola still came out on top. Minneola skirted past Ashland 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Minneola has posted yet this season.
Minneola can attribute much of their success to Maiya Shelor, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Braegen Shelor, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Shelor has scored at least a third of Minneola's points. Another player making a difference was Rhianne Swonger, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Hodgeman County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 71-50 margin over Ingalls. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Hodgeman County has posted since December 1, 2023.
Minneola's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Hodgeman County, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Minneola might still be hurting after the 68-43 loss they got from Hodgeman County when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Minneola, Malynn Beil (who scored 12 points along with four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
