Softball Recap: Adams Has No Trouble Against Spruce

Adams never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Spruce Timberwolves. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Sharon Arambula was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Arambula was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Melendez, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Natalie Tule, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

Adams always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.

Adams' victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Spruce, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Adams will square off against rival Seagoville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Spruce is set to take on their familiar foe West Mesquite at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
