Basketball Recap: Palo Verde Piles Up the Points Against Catalina

Palo Verde waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Catalina Trojans 80-29. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 23 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palo Verde to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daniel Ortiz, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Rashad Ortiz was another key player, going 7 for 12 en route to 21 points.

Palo Verde smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Palo Verde is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Catalina, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palo Verde will head out to take on Tanque Verde at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tanque Verde is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.6 points per game this season. Catalina has already played their next matchup (against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
