Baseball Recap: Carnegie Comes Up Short

Carnegie lost against Apache back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Carnegie Wildcats lost 17-8 to the Apache Warriors. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Stetson West was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Klayton Thompson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, Carnegie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Carnegie's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Apache, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-3.

Coming up, Carnegie will face off against Snyder at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Snyder has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.33 runs per game on average), something Carnegie will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Apache, they will take on Anadarko at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
