Rocky Mount Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Wilson Christian Academy on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers stepped up to hand the Chargers a 15-0 shutout. The Eagles have beaten the Chargers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Chargers has come to flipping the script.
Deacon Stinson and Tripp Evans made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Stinson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Evans pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Stinson went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Evans went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Creech-Jones, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs. Ashton Lascallette put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Michael Tyler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Morgan, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
The victory got Rocky Mount Academy back to even at 7-7. As for Faith Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 19-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rocky Mount Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Faith Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Rocky Mount Academy couldn't quite finish off Faith Christian when the teams last played back in March and fell 2-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
