Even though the Pope Greyhounds scored an imposing 57 points on Saturday, the McDonough Warhawks still came out on top. McDonough strolled past Pope with points to spare, taking the game 74-57. The victory was familiar territory for McDonough who now have three in a row.
McDonough's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keenan Gray led the charge by scoring 19 points. The contest was Gray's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nigel Thomas, who scored 16 points.
McDonough's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Pope, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.
McDonough is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Benton at 10:00 a.m. on December 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Benton is ranked ninth in Arkansas, while McDonough is ranked 14th in Georgia). Pope will finish 2023 at home by hosting Kennesaw Mountain at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Kennesaw Mountain is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
