Dunmore is 1-9 against Mid Valley since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bucks will venture away from home to take on the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Dunmore's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Mid Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Dunmore proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 11) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Honesdale 2-1.
Dunmore's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mason Stets, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Jimmy Clark also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Mid Valley waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Blue Devils as they made off with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Spartans have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Christian Ellis made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Nick Hricenak was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Cali, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Mid Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Old Forge only posted a batting average of .160.
Dunmore's record is now 9-5. As for Mid Valley, their record now sits at 9-3.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dunmore hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Mid Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dunmore was able to grind out a solid win over Mid Valley in their previous meeting back in March, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bucks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
