Baseball Recap: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Comes Up Short

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Life Christian Academy on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by just one run.

Dylan McCarthy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 1-7 when he doesn't). Jon Michael Lee was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Life Christian Academy, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot will square off against Richmond Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Life Christian Academy, they will face off against Atlantic Shores Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Seahawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
