On Saturday, the Pikeville Panthers faced the Owensboro Catholic Aces in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Pikeville came out on top against Owensboro Catholic by a score of 59-52. Winning may never get old, but Pikeville sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Several Aces players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jenna Krampe, who scored 17 points. Aubrey Randolph was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Owensboro Catholic struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Pikeville is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. As for Owensboro Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-4.
Pikeville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Holy Cross on January 28th. Holy Cross is on a four-game streak of home wins, Pikeville a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Owensboro Catholic will take on Daviess County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
