There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the games was a one-point thriller between Tampa Bay Tech and Hillsborough.
Can't Touch This
Winter Park's 30 - 0 win over Evans last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Tyrone Davis. Davis ran for 257 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. That performance made Davis one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Central (2nd in the power rankings) and St. Thomas Aquinas (3rd). Central earned a pretty comfortable 43 - 27 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas. Senior Maurice Underwood was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he finished up with 278 yards passing and four rushing touchdowns).
Movin on Up
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Jones last week (their 3rd in a row). It picked up a decisive 'W' against Forest, finishing up at 60 - 0. Jones was heavily favored coming into this contest, and the results showcase why. The success catapulted it 13 spots up the power rankings, enough to make it the biggest riser of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Trinity Christian Academy (11th in the power rankings) and Columbia (8th). Both teams are coming in hot off of wins in their previous games. Only one team will win this week, so we'll see which team fails to repeat its success.
