After flying high against the Anderson Prep Academy Jets last Tuesday, the Blackford Bruins came back down to earth. Blackford took a 37-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Frankton. Blackford was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Frankton apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Blackford lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Sydnee Morris. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Morris is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Wicker, who scored eight points.
Blackford struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Amaya Collins was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with four steals for Frankton. That makes it four consecutive games in which Collins has scored at least a third of Frankton's points.
Blackford's loss dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Frankton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blackford the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Eastbrook at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Frankton will take on Mississinewa at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mississinewa is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
