The Y Yuma won the last time they faced the Holyoke Dragons, and things went their way on Friday too. Y enjoyed a cozy 42-24 victory over Holyoke. Given Y's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Holyoke is ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Y to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Rayl, who scored seven points along with six rebounds. Alina Moran was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Holyoke's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Anessa Colglazier, who scored two points along with 14 rebounds and four steals, and Ellie Kleve who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Colglazier is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.
Y's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Holyoke, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Y won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Haxtun at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Bobbi Starkebaum and Caddis Robinson. As for Holyoke, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wray at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
