The First Flight Nighthawks had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They breezed by Manteo on the road to the tune of 76-28. That looming 76-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for First Flight yet this season.
Leading First Flight to victory were Judah Carlysle and Ethan Crowe. Carlysle went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists, while Crowe dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Crowe also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Brody Woods was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Manteo's loss came despite strong showings from Taylor Granitzki and Zay Williams. Granitzki dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Williams scored five points.
Manteo struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as First Flight racked up 22 assists.
First Flight has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for Manteo, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Flight will square off against the Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Camden County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 441st, while the Nighthawks are ranked 207th). As for Manteo, they will head out on the road to square off against the Knights at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Currituck County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.9 points per game this season.
