The Thayer Bobcats will challenge the Houston Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Thayer took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 17-12 victory over Summersville. The win continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Houston). They blew past Ellington 20-7 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Griffin Aaron made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Aaron was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jasper McCloy was incredible, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Stryker Sloan, who went 2-for-6 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Houston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Houston's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Thayer, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.
Everything went Thayer's way against Houston when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Thayer made off with a 10-4 victory. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
