1A Region 3 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Noxapater extended the longest winning streak in 1A Region 3 this week by beating West Oktibbeha, 57-6. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Noxapater made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,644 from 5,620. The advance stemmed from a 57-6 victory over the Timberwolves last week.
Ethel's dynamic duo of Bobby Potts and Markei Johnson proved tough for Sebastopol to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Potts threw for 136 yards and one touchdown and Johnson had 94 yards receiving. Justin Self helped Ethel's passing attack out by catching three balls for 42 yards.
Colton Tharp was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 171 yards as the Bobcats lost to the Bobcats. Teammate Eric Burkes added to the ground attack by rushing for 77 yards.
West Oktibbeha's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Timberwolves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Von Smith has thrown for 1343 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, while Lavante Tate has 25 catches for 678 yards. Tiberias Lampkin leads the league in rushing with 1796 yards.
The top two teams in 1A Region 3 will face off this week when first place West Oktibbeha takes on second place Pelahatchie. West Oktibbeha lost to Justin hunter's team last week, while Pelahatchie.
Tharp of the Sebastopol is only 79 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 153 carries Tharp has accumulated 921 yard this year.
There should be lots of points scored when Adam Lowrey's team and the Chiefs face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Timberwolves comes in having scored 418 this season, while Pelahatchie has scored 366. West Oktibbeha scored 6 points last week as it fell to the Tigers.
