At the plate, the team relied heavily on John Burke, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bryce Durham, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Eleanor Roosevelt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Bowie had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They blew past the Jaguars 16-2.
Brandon Epps spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Taylor Brown was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Brame, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
The victory got Bowie back to even at 3-3. As for Eleanor Roosevelt, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Eleanor Roosevelt couldn't quite get it done against Bowie when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can Eleanor Roosevelt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
