Softball Recap: Flour Bluff Extends Winning Streak to Six

Flour Bluff came tearing into Saturday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Corpus Christi Moody Trojans get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Kenzie O'Brien made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Sarah Morris was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Allison Ramos was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Flour Bluff kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Flour Bluff's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Corpus Christi Moody, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Flour Bluff will face off against Carroll at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flour Bluff's pitchers better be ready for this one: Carroll has averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Corpus Christi Moody, they will venture away from home to face off against Gregory-Portland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
