The Downey Christian Patriots will be playing at home against the IMG Academy Gray Ascenders at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Downey Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matches -- so hopefully IMG Academy Gray likes a good challenge.
Even though Southland Christian scored an imposing 66 points on Friday, Downey Christian still came out on top. Downey Christian walked away with a 74-66 victory over Southland Christian.
Meanwhile, IMG Academy Gray's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They suffered a tough 69-48 loss at the hands of Southland Christian. While losing is never fun, IMG Academy Gray can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while Southland Christian is ranked 172nd).
Downey Christian's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.5 points per game. As for IMG Academy Gray, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
