The Rochelle Hubs will head out on the road to face off against the St. Francis Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rochelle comes in on four and St. Francis on five.
Last Friday, Rochelle was able to grind out a solid win over Richmond-Burton, taking the game 30-20.
Among those leading the charge was Dylan Manning, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Grant Gensler also helped out as he racked up 101 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, St. Francis was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They enjoyed a cozy 35-17 victory over Nazareth Academy.
St. Francis' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alessio Milivojevic, who threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Tyvonn Ransom was another key contributor, rushing for 124 yards and two touchdowns.
Rochelle's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 6-3 Sandwich and 5-4 Plano (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.1% over those games). As for St. Francis, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Rochelle ended up a good deal behind St. Francis in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, losing 35-16. Can Rochelle avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
