The Harrison Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Troy Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
On Wednesday, Harrison didn't have quite enough to beat Talawanda and fell 4-3. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
CC Bischoff was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Khloe Legner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Troy came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Yellowjackets an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Trojans have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Riley King was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mimi Shaw, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexis Ater, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Troy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Troy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Harrison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Harrison hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Troy struggles in that department as they've averaged .398. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
