Two dominant backs in Josh Snyder and Jaden Lawrence are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Columbine Rebels will play host again and welcome the Legend Titans, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbine knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Legend likes a good challenge.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Columbine had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fountain-Fort Carson 65-7 at home. Considering Columbine has won nine matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Snyder was his usual excellent self, rushing for 168 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Snyder was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 68 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Moreno, who rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Meanwhile, Legend faced Valor Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Legend came out on top against Valor Christian by a score of 20-13 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for Legend who now have three in a row.
Lawrence continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 198 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Lawrence has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Columbine has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 11-0 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.2 points per game. As for Legend, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Columbine has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 315.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Legend struggles in that department as they've been averaging 197.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
