The Portal Panthers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Effingham County with points to spare, taking the game 68-54. That 68-54 margin sets a new team best for Portal this season.
Portal got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Coleman out in front who scored 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Coleman set a new season high mark in assists with five. Another player making a difference was Joseph Thomas, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Portal's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 23.55 points. As for Effingham County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Portal won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Evans at 3:30 p.m. on December 9th. Evans will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Portal is ranked 12th). As for Effingham County, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Burke County at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Burke County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
