Broome is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will look to defend their home field against the Woodruff Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. Woodruff took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Broome, who comes in off a win.
On Friday, Broome took their matchup with ease, bagging a 40-7 win over Blacksburg. That 33 point margin sets a new team best for the Centurions this season.
Tyqwon Booker produced another solid effort rushing for 140 yards and three touchdowns. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making one tackle. Another pass catcher making a difference was Brayden Simpson, who picked up 108 receiving yards and one score.
Broome's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cedric Fernanders, Aayden Hemphill, and Levi Bishop, who each picked up one sack apiece. Asher Littlejohn was another major factor on D, making 12 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four contests, Woodruff finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were beaten by Wren 35-7. The game marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Broome will have to contain Aiden Gibson as he made an impact in Woodruff's last game. He rushed for 115 yards on only 14 carries. Gibson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 113 rushing yards.
The victory got Broome back to even at 3-3. As for Woodruff, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Broome has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 181.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Woodruff struggles in that department as they've been averaging 201.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Broome might still be hurting after the 35-14 defeat they got from Woodruff when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Will the Centurions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
